农历七月初七，是中国传统节日七夕节，是以“牛郎织女”民间传说为载体，以爱情为主题，是最具浪漫色彩的传统节日。2006年，七夕节被列入国家级非物质文化遗产名录。

July 7th of the lunar calendar is Chinese Valentine's Day，the most romantic traditional festival. It bases on the love story of two lovers named Niu lang and Zhi nv, and was listed into the national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

The origin of Chinese Valentine's Day

七夕乞巧起源于汉代，东晋葛洪《西京杂记》：“汉彩女常以七月七日穿七孔于开襟楼，人俱习之”的记载。

Chinese Valentine's Day originated in Han Dynasty. Ge Hong wrote in miscellaneous notes of west capital: girls in color threaded seven needles in Kaijin tower on July 7th, people all imitated them.

牛郎织女是我国四大民间爱情传说之一。相传南阳城牛郎与天上织女相爱，可惜被王母娘娘所阻拦，分隔在银河两岸，只有在每年的农历七月七日于鹊桥相会。

The story of Niu lang and Zhi nv is one of the four great folk love stories. Niu lang and the fairy Zhi nv fell in love with each other, but they were forced to be separated by the West Queen, and only met on the Magpie Bridge on July 7th once a year.
